SOROFES 2022 Team Competition

What is "Team competition"?

Team competition is a tournament format competition that only Center Students can participate in. The competition will be in a head-to-head format between teams formed by Centers. This will be a great opportunity to unleash your potential and improve your mental calculation. Whatever the outcome, it will be a great motivator for your development and training.

※Please look at the tournament chart below. One match is about 20min.Every match 1 or 2 teams will win and go to the next round.
※Games last about 20 minutes, and the winning team will advance to the next round

Requirements
・Age 5 to 12 years old at the time of application
・Be between J7 or above (Online Student or Classroom Student)
・Be able to participate via Zoom with video ON and be comfortable with their face being published on the internet and social media. (We may also interview children during the match.)
・One person cannot participate in multiple teams.
・Please be aware that it is not possible to adjust the time, even the time overlaps between siblings with different Zoom ID.(Note1)
・Member changes will be accepted until June 10th 5:00 pm JST the day before.
・The team name is the name of the SoroTouch Center. If multiple teams are participating from one SoroTouch Center in one division, add a capital letter to the end of the name for each team in alphabetical order. (Example: Iidabashi_A, Iidabashi_B, Iidabashi_C…)
・Participation as a combined SoroTouch center is possible, but please select one SoroTouch center for the team name.
・One teacher can join the Zoom call during the tournament with their camera off. Teachers should turn on their cameras when speaking.

■Divisions

⭐️Junior Division---J7~J12 (1 team of 5 people, at least 3 people required on the time of the competition)  ※Up to two J5 and J6 learners may also participate
⭐️Super Division---S1~S12 (1 team of 5 people, at least 3 people required on the time of the competition) ※Up to 2 Junior division learners can participate
⭐️Ultra Division---U1 or above (1 team of 5 people, at least 3 people required on the time of the competition) ※Up to 2 Super division learners can participate

※Students will be assigned to their divisions based on their stage at the time of application.
Their division will not be changed later, even if they move up a stage.
※If a minimum of three participants are not present at the start of the match, that team will be disqualified.
If players drop out mid match, the team may continue, as long as there are two or more players. If there is only one player during the match, the team will be disqualified.

・5 rounds of flash calculation with "How many?"
■Event
・Junior division:Basic, 1 digit 7 numbers/ 2 digit 5 numbers/ Normal 2 digit 3 numbers, etc
・Super division:Normal, 1 digit 7 numbers/ 2 digit 7 numbers/ 3 digit 3 numbers, etc
・Ultra division:Normal, 2 digit 10 numbers/ 3 digit 5 numbers/ 4 digit 3 numbers, etc
※Speed:motorcycle, train etc

■ Judgement method
・In each round, teams (2-4 teams/colors per round) compete for the highest sum of points in “Ready Go!” and “How Many?”
・Points will be added to your score even if you are unable to participate due to network or app problems. Retirement is possible only before the start of an event.
・If it is not possible to have a winner, we will be decide the winner on the extended match with "How many?"
・Winning or losing is decided by the average number of points per team, so smaller teams will not be at a disadvantage

■Awards
・Students will receive virtual gold, silver, and bronze medals corresponding to the, first, second, and third place winners in each category at a later date. All participants will receive a virtual participation prize. Virtual prizes can be viewed in the SoroTouch App

How to participate

Please prepare two devices

Compete using calculation
with people around the world using Zoom!

Participants will need one device for SoroTouch, and one device for Zoom
PC or Smartphone devices for using Zoomwill be needed.

Additional Notes

・The competition will be held online using Zoom.
Participants need a device that can connect to Zoom in addition to their iPad for SoroTouch (mobile phone, PC, etc.).)
・Make sure to 1.)Check the battery, 2.) Reboot, and 3.)Close the unnecessary applications
for the devices on the day of the competition.
・Make sure to use the “Automatic setting” for the iPad’s clock
Settings→General→Date and Time→Turn on the “Set Automatically” button
・Please make sure to check if you can log into SoroTouch before the competition
(The newest version will be automatically downloaded)

・Contents from the event will be posted on our website and social media.

Note: Multiple participants will be able to join at the same time if there is an iPad and a Zoom connection for each of them. If only several participants will be using the same Zoom ID, you can use 1 device for Zoom for several participants.
